Plant Description

Rhagodia parabolica Grey Edge

Rhagodia parabolica Grey Edge in the garden of Carolyn Hughes in Sydney

This is a silvery-leaved native saltbush and it forms a rounded shape about 1-1.5 m tall. It is sometimes known as fragrant saltbush. Its unusual triangular shimmering foliage is very pleasing. It has small, fragrant, greenish-white flowers in spring, followed by red berries.

It is very drought- and heat-resistant, and is moderately frost tolerant. A sunny spot suits it best. It needs good drainage, and does well in coastal gardens. Pruning will help maintain a compact form. It can be used as an informal hedge.
